Fox Cabinets has been in business in Australia for over 25 years.

Based in Chelsea Heights, Melbourne, we started our life as Global Bathrooms and Kitchens Pty Ltd – building our reputation for excellence one home renovation at a time.

Originally from the UK, Ian Fox learnt his trade as a young lad – starting his apprenticeship at the tender age of 16. In those times, Carpenters were old school, they demanded a high level of attention to detail, taught the benefits of hand-craftsmanship and were a long way from today’s manufacturing machinery!

Ian went on to become a qualified Carpenter – even winning Apprentice of the Year in his travels (don’t tell him I told you!). Having achieved his qualifications, he worked in Commercial shop fronts – defits and installing commercial cabinetry and advertising kiosks. Working with high-end clients ensured that Ian consistently delivered quality results in a professional yet engaging manner.

Moving to Melbourne, Australia, Ian hit the ground running and quickly established himself with a team of qualified trades in both the Commercial and Residential space. Using his qualifications, skills and knowledge, Ian became known for his high-quality carpenter skills and easygoing manner. Expanding his business from Commercial to Residential works, he has now clocked over 25 years in both arenas.

Ian prides himself on his reputation and the knowledge that most of his clients are repeat customers and referral based. Good news travels fast – and so does good work!

In 2020, we relocated to Chelsea – right in the middle of Covid! Knowing no-one, no contacts and in the middle of a pandemic what do you do? You start a second business – custom designing and manufacturing the very cabinetry and joinery you install. No more outsourcing! Settling in the area, we rebranded to Fox Cabinets (still under the Global business), threw ourselves into both businesses – manufacturing and renovations – and started from scratch.

Letting you into a secret – it’s not been easy! It’s been tough – every step of the way! Now… now we are settling into the area, ourselves and our businesses…. So much so that we have taken on an amazing Apprentice, have a part-timer in the factory, casual staff – and have even been able to offer work experience to a young lass that we have known for years! What are we grateful for? The amazing community around us – those willing to give us newcomers a chance – trusting us with their homes and their dreams. We are so thankful.

Out of all our trials, we have realised that not only are we wood geeks, hardware nerds and work-aholics. We passionately love redesigning client’s floorplans (we seem to have the knack!), creating new spaces and – you guessed it – the stunning Hampton style cabinetry and joinery – the Shaker profile! We have created more Shaker style kitchens, laundries, wardrobes, vanities and TV and entertainment units than we have standard flat finish cabinetry. Mind blowing!.

We look forward to creating more dream homes in the local area and meeting new families, friends and associates.

PS. You may be wondering where the “Foxy Touch’ comes into play. One of a colleagues young feller was struggling with a cabinet drawer and hardware supplied by another company….tried for hours apparently. Finally, he called Ian (nickname to all – Foxy) and said ‘Mate – it’s stuck, it won’t work – can you come and have a look? I’m lost’. So leaving our factory, driving 30 minutes, Foxy took one look at the hardware took over .. and fixed it immediately (hardware nerd). The young guy stood back, shook his head and said “… it just needs that Foxy Touch…”. BOOM. There’s our tag line – ‘The Foxy Touch’! It stuck.
